Appearance & Construction: The PIO Resurrection is not a pretty cigar; in fact it’s downright ugly. Very large veins cover the dark brown wrapper of this cigar, thus is not smooth to the touch. The cigar is packed full of tobacco and does have a good weight to it. The band is an ugly orange-ish brown color and does one job, it tells you what the cigar is.
Smoking Characteristics: The PIO Resurrection Series has a nice draw to it but at first it did not produce a lot of smoke. It was almost as if there was a leak somewhere in the wrapper. After the first inch or so the amount of smoke improved and was much better. The burn of the PIO Resurrection was pretty off but nothing a few touchups couldn’t handle. The ash was chunky but did not flake off and stayed on for a good inch or so.
Flavor: The PIO Resurrection Series offers nice flavors of espresso, earth, and dark chocolate. There isn’t much change in flavor between thirds but the cigar is balanced nicely but only slightly complex. The body of the PIO Resurrection is medium to full while the strength was average.
Overall Thoughts: When all is said and done the PIO Resurrection Series is a nice cigar. It won’t be winning any beauty contests but the flavor is very nice. As stated above this cigar is not overly complex but the cigar has a great flavor profile that will do well for most Maduro lovers. For me, a fiver of these would be nice to have on hand.
