Cigar Review of Alec Bradley SCR (Select Cabinet Reserve)
Wrapper: Honduran Trojes
Binder: Indonesian
Filler: Honduran, Nicaraguan
Made In: Honduras
Size: 5×50 Robusto
Price: $6.50 per single
Appearance & Construction: The Alec Bradley SCR is a very nice looking cigar. The wrapper is dark brown in color and is very oily. The construction of this cigar looks great too with nice even seam lines and a triple cap. The band is rather large but looks very nice. There is also a secondary band on the foot of the cigar that states Select Cabinet Reserve.
Smoking Characteristics: The Alec Bradley SCR has an effortless draw that produces big thick clouds of smoke. The burn was a bit wavy on one of the cigars because I tore the wrapper while taking off the foot band; guess someone went a little pectin crazy while putting it on. The ash is solid and compact although it is a little chunky looking.
Flavor: The Alec Bradley SCR starts off with some earth, a distinct fruity sweetness and pepper. After the cigar gets going after a couple minutes I start to pick up some coffee notes along with just a slight bit of leather. In the second third the sweetness backs down a bit but is still stealing the show and is taking away from the other flavors. The final third turns a little earthier but the sweetness still remains.
Final Thoughts: The Alec Bradley SCR is a good cigar. The flavors are fairly complex but the cigar is a little off balance due to all the sweetness I got from the cigar. Maybe some time in the humidor will let everything balance out but for now I think I will pass on more of these.
Cigar Rating: Good/ Average

Saw this in a B&M the other day but I haven’t had the opportunity to smoke it yet. I know a guy that’s had some aging for awhile so I’ll have to smoke those and see how it is. Sweet, peppery, coffee, earthy all sound like good descriptors!
Well written article Adam. I just discovered your blog I look forward to reading more.
