Berger & Argenti Classico Belicoso – Cigar Review

Berger & Argenti Classico Belicoso – Cigar Revew

Berger & Argenti was formed in 2009 as a partnership between brothers Michael and Albert (Al) Argenti and Enrique Berger. The company is headquartered in Miami, FL with agricultural and manufacturing facilities in Estelí, Nicaragua. Berger & Argenti make other lines such as Entubar, Entubar Quad Maduro, and the newly released value cigar Mooch. Today we have the Berger & Argenti Classico, which features a Stalk-cut Ecuadorian Connecticut seed Deslorado wrapper. Salk-cut means the entire plat was chopped at the bottom of the stalk and then cured as a whole plant, as opposed to priming the separate tobacco leaves off of the plant one by one. The reason some cigar manufactures use this process is because they believe it produces better tobacco even though it is much more expensive to produce.

Appearance & Construction: The Berger & Argenti Calssico has a traditional Cuban aura about it. The kaki colored wrapper has some small veins that have a ripple effect to them, something that is often noticed on the wrappers of Cuban cigars. The construction looks great on this cigar as there are evenly cut seam lines that are barely noticeable. The band is quite simple but traditional looking which is another reason the cigar has that traditional Cuban aura to it.

Smoking Characteristics: The Berger & Argenti Classico has a nice loose, but smooth draw that produces a good amount of smoke. The burn is fairly even on the Classico, but the ash seems weak and airy so I didn’t want to test my luck with seeing how long it would hold.

Flavor: The Berger & Argenti Classico starts off with a woodsy cedary core with notes of leather, spice, cream and nuts. There isn’t much variation between thirds which isn’t a bad thing with this cigar because I like the flavors just as they are. The body of the Berger & Argenti Classico starts off in the lighter side of medium but slowly works its way to a solid medium range.

Final Thoughts: Berger & Argenti has a very nice cigar on their hands with the Classico. The cigar has a nice flavor profile and overall I really enjoyed the Berger & Argenti Classico. I could see the belicoso being a nice mid-morning to early afternoon kind of cigar for myself. I was also able to try the robusto which had a little more body and spice which would stand up better later in the day. Either way you can’t go wrong with this cigar and I recommend this cigar to anyone.

Cigar Rating: Very Good (above average)
