Appearance & Construction: The Cain Maduro has a dark brown almost black looking wrapper and is very firm to the touch. The wrapper has a lot of visable veins running throughout and some pretty large. The cigar sports a nice looking red and white footband stating its name. Overall an okay looking cigar but if we based everything on looks we would miss some damn good cigars. Lets go ahead and fire up this cigar.
Smoking Characteristics: When I first got my box of Cain Maduro’s I has some difficulties drawing on the cigars but a good 2 months of rest has really opened up the draw and is now perfect. The burn line was a little wavy in the beginning but evened out nicely as the cigar progressed. The ash had a little bit of flowering in some areas due to the uneven burn, but again as the cigar progressed I did not have that problem. The body of this cigar is full yet smooth on the palate. The strength was also full and had me a buzzed in some areas of the cigar.
Flavor: The Cain Maduro starts out with some nice dark earthy flavors with bold notes of sweet cocoa and just a touch of spice. As the first third progresses I pick up some meaty flavors almost like beef jerky. The second third a salty component comes through that is actually quite pleasant. The final third is a nice combination of the earthy, sweet cocoa flavors and the salty component. A nice end to this cigar.
Final Thoughts: The first Cain’s I smoked seemed young and I even mention that in the Cain Habano review but time sure did these cigars good and boy am I glad I bought a box of these cigars. Great flavors and a fair price make this cigar a winner in my book. The cigar does not bite the palate hard but has a nice kick in the nicotine department. Obviously this is not a cigar to have with your coffee in the morning but rather a nice night cap that will surely have you smiling in your sleep. I am also glad that I waited to review this cigar because I think things would be a lot different and hence my recommendation is to let this cigar sit a bit before you smoke it or you may even try to dry box it.

Sounds like my kind of cigar!
I like almost everything Oliva puts out and I’m pretty sure this will be no exception.
