Joya de Nicaragua Cabinetta Serie Review
About a week or so ago I posted a press release from Drew Estates, the importer and distributor for Joya de Nicaragua cigars. The Cabinetta Serie was blended as a cigar that you could have at anytime of the day. The Cabinetta Serie is a dramatic departure from the bold full bodied cigars that Joya de Nicaragua is known for.
Wrapper: Ecudorian Shade/ Nicaraguan Criollio
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Made In: Nicaragua
Size: No. 7, 6×52 Toro
Price: About 6.50 per single cigar
Appearance & Construction: The Joya de Nicaragua Cabinetta Serie is one cool looking cigar. The primary wrapper of the cigar is Ecudorian Shade and the top of the cigar is drapped with a swath of dark Nicaraguan Criollio wrapper. Both wrappers have very nice looking and do not have very many veins. Construction seems great as there are even cut lines and a nice tight roll.
Smoking Characteristics: The Cabinetta Serie has a really nice draw and the burn is very even. The ash is solid and compact and holds on for a good inch or so.
Flavor: The Joya De Nicaragua Cabinetta starts off pretty bland. All I really get when you first light it up is a natural tobacco flavor and pepper. After about a ¾ of an inch the Cabinetta starts showing some promise and brings some nice woodsy notes and a touch of coffee. The finish is fairly creamy and is moderately smooth.
Final Thoughts: In all I think the Joya de Nicaragua Cabinetta Serie is a good cigar. This cigar is indeed a huge departure from what we all know Joya de Nicaragua for. For me it’s not something I would not grab for most times but when I am feeling for something mild to medium, this cigar will do the trick.
Cigar Rating: Good
