Initial Thoughts: Some think of Nub Cigars as an overhyped gimmicky cigar, some are completely enamored with them, and some are like me. Personally I have not been overly impressed with Nub cigars; I don’t love them but I certainly don’t hate them. The Connecticut and the Habano are good and the Cameroon is decent, but overall I don’t usually crave them. Let’s see if the Nub Maduro will change my mind. I know I’m a little late to the game here with this review but when they first came out people were saying they needed some more time and after I smoked my first one I agreed, so I decided to wait on this review. As with all Nub cigars this one is a nice looking cigar that is constructed nicely. The cigar is a deep brown color with a slightly oily and toothy texture. Let’s fire up this cigar and see what we get.

Flavors: This cigar has a sweet oaky core with heavy notes of dark chocolate and espresso. As the cigar progresses the flavors turn a little more woody and a leather component pokes its little head at times. The dark chocolate and espresso don’t ever go away, but they are just a little less prominent than in the beginning. I’ve burned through several of these cigars and I am always amazed at the sweetness that this cigar has. It is not over the top but it is very rich and even more rich on the torpedo shaped cigars. I can’t think of another Maduro cigar that is this sweet. The cigar starts out on the lighter side of full bodied but slowly progresses well into the full bodied spectrum by the final third of the cigar.

Smoking Characteristics: This cigar scores great in this category and every Nub I have had has burned like a champ. The draw is perfect and the burn is very even considering the larger ring gauge of this cigar. And of course I can never smoke a nub without performing an ash stand. The ash is so solid and unlike any other cigar out there; then again it is only a 4” cigar but who cares its fun.

Final Thoughts: I dig this cigar. The flavors of this cigar are so smooth and rich, I love them. The cigar is also very well balanced and there are enough complexities to keep me interested. Nub did a great job in my opinion and I hope they continue to. This cigar also got me thinking, what if they took this cigar and made it into a smaller ring gauge cigar. What would the flavor be like on that? – I’m betting pretty damn good, but for now I will stick with these little tuna cans and continue to giggle and skip fanatically like a little girl on recess when I do my Nub stands.

Worth a Try: You betcha
Buy Again: Yes, also very box worthy
Enjoyablility: High
Nubability: Nub a Nub – very high

    Great review.
I don’t think the flavor would be the same if the ring gauge was smaller. Sound so would mean creating a cigar with less tobacco and a faster burn– both of which would change the flavor and quality of the cigar.
