Cigar Background: Olor del Ciabo is a handmade long-leaf filler cigar that is made by Tobaccars Corp in the Dominican Republic. This cigars is only available if you go to the Dominican Republic or if you purchase them from the sole distributor in the US, Tex Cigars.
Initial Thoughts/ Prelight: I have to tell you I’m a little worried about this cigar. When I smelled the aroma off the cigar I got a weird dusty, smoky smell; almost as if someone let these cigars sit in a damp basement for 5 years. I have got this smell off other cigars before and have had horrible experiences with them. I won’t name names but the Corojo Cubanos… oops…needless to say they sit in a separate container by themselves and get handed to my inexperienced cigar mooching buddies that come over wanting to puff on a cigar.
Flavors: The flavors of this cigar are well balanced and for the most part remain the same through the entire cigar. The cigar’s core is primarily a slightly sweet woodsy flavor with a distinct flavor of black coffee. About half way through the first third the cigar flipped a switch and became nice and creamy on the palate. The flavors in no way are bold and the cigar is mild in body.
Smoking Characteristics: The draw on this cigar was good and the burn was nice and even. The ash was nicely compacted with no flaking and held on pretty well. The cigar was a mini brush fire and produced a lot of resting smoke. Sometimes this can indicate that the cigar is burning too fast but the pace in which this cigar smoked was normal for its size. Surprising for a bundle cigar, it did extremely well in this category.
Final Thoughts: This is a nice solid cigar that I liked. Mild maduro cigars are typically not my thing but there is a time and place for these and I could see myself smoking this out on the patio with a nice cup of black coffee. Would I spring for a box of these, probably not but I would not hesitate to split a bundle with a buddy simply because the above situation doesn’t come up all that often. This cigar reminds me of the A. Fuente Flor Fina 585 maduro that I had the other night and would make a good inexpensive alternative to the 858.
Worth a Try: Yes, mild maduro lovers will like these alot
Buy it again: Yes
Nubablity: High, but at $2.80 a stick I wouldn’t feel bad if I had to set it down early

Nice review. It’s always good to find reviews of bundles. Helps us all find those value smokes we need. I’d give these a shot. But like you said maybe a spilt-box instead of the whole thing. Thanks for the review.
