Cigar Review – Perdomo Habano Maduro Torpedo

Cigar Review – Perdomo Habano Maduro

Wrapper: Nicaraguan Maduro
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Made In: Nicaragua
Size: 6.5×54 – Torpedo
Price: About $7 per single

Appearance & Construction: A beefy torpedo with an ultra pointy head, the Perdomo Habano Maduro Torpedo is one nice looking cigar. The wrapper has a nice smooth oily sheen to it and there are hardly any veins visible on this cigar. Then there is the band of this cigar, it’s massive. Without a formal measurement I would guess that this band is pushing almost two inches long, plus a secondary band at the foot which is probably another inch. About half the cigar is a band, that’s ridiculous. I know the band has absolutely nothing to do with the smoke but why cover up such a fantastic looking cigar.

Smoking Characteristics: The cigar has a nice smooth draw with just a bit of resistance which produces a moderate amount of smoke. The burn of the cigar is a little off but nothing out of the ordinary. The ash on the Perdomo Habano Maduro is one of the strongest I have ever seen and does not flower or flake.

Flavors: The Perdomo Habano Maduro stars off with a nice sweet earthy core with prominent notes of chocolate and just a bit of pepper. As the second third starts the chocolate notes are joined by some coffee flavors which always go nicely together. Overall the cigar is very creamy and coats your palate with its rich flavors. The final third is much of the same coffee chocolaty flavors but I get some brown sugar notes that when paired with the chocolaty flavors, reminds me of chocolate chip cookie dough. The body of the Perdomo Habano is medium to full and the strength is average.

Final Thoughts: Perdomo has a winner on their hands with its Habano line. A fair price for an awesome cigar; what more can you ask for? This cigar is a staple in my humidor and is one of my favorite Maduro wrapped cigars. The band is a bit ridiculous in size but I can get over that real quick when you give me a cigar with nice rich flavors such as this cigar. I highly recommend this cigar to anyone who wants a nice rich Maduro cigar that won’t break the bank.

Cigar Rating: Great (see how we rate our cigars)

The Perdomo’s are like Rocky Patel’s. You will never have one that you can say is bad. They are a great line of cigars in my opinion. The Perdome Lot # 23 is a staple for me and i will always buy these by the box. Also the Rocky Patel R4 in the on-line cigar stores are a great cigar at half the price in the stores. I do visit the local Cigar shops and try other brands but always have these 2 stored for other times.

Cost would probably drop if that band was not flag sized! I met Nick P at a herf, super nice guy!
