First Impressions: The cigar is not very attractive in my opinion but far from ugly. The wrapper has many veins running throughout and the yellow and black checkers on the band looks like a stereotypical taxi cab. I get that it’s a rip off of the Cuban Cohiba but I think they could have done a better job designing an original band for this cigar. All and all the appearance doesn’t mean much to me but the appearance does add to the enjoyment of the cigar.

Flavor: This cigar starts off like a Pepin but it’s more of an earthy pepper blast than the clean cayenne pepper blast which is typically associated with the start of most cigars made by Don Pepin Garcia. As the cigar progresses past the first inch the blast does wear down a bit but the cigar still remains earthy and peppery. There are other flavors in the background which come and go and they are: coffee, leather, wood, and nuts; your typical Nicaraguan flavors. The cigar is very rough around the edges and leaves the palate slightly dry at times. The pepper got to the back of my throat at times and was slightly irritating. I think a bit of time in the humidor would do this cigar some good. The body of this cigar is planted solidly in the full category and does not vary much throughout the cigar.

Smoking Characteristics: The burn was slightly wavy but acceptable by most standards. The draw was great but the ash fell off about every half an inch to an inch. The cigar did throw out quite the stench or aroma as some call it. I smoked this cigar in the garage with the door up and could definitely smell this stinky bastard and I’m sure the neighbors smelled this one too. Definitely not the cigar to bring to into the bar with you, unless you want to get asked to leave.

Final Thoughts: I smoked this cigar at about 10:30pm, my normal smoking time and I’m not going to lie, this cigar hit me with the Vitamin N (nicotine). I rarely experience a buzz from a cigar, in fact I could probably count on one hand how many times a cigar has hit me, this is one of those times. Dinner was only 3 hours prior so it’s not a case of empty stomach but I was completely surprised that an Altadis cigar hit me like this. Overall I did enjoy this cigar but the next time I grab one will be a solid three to six months from now so the cigar can settle down a bit in pepper department.

Worth A Try: Yes, but give it some time in your humidor
Buy it again: I have one more in the humidor, we’ll see after that one
Nubablitly: Not much past the band on this one guys
Compare to: Padilla Habano and a Padron Thousand Series had babies and this is what it had

The wrapper for the Siglo Limited Reserve is an Ecuadorian Habano leaf, beneath which is a Nicaraguan broad leaf binder. The filler is a Dominican/Nicaraguan combo. It has a slightly sandy texture and rustic appearance. The roll is also solid. The Siglo starts up with a woody and straight forward tobacco flavor. It has a floral aroma.I think a lot of new smokers will genuinely enjoy it. It is priced reasonably at $5 per cigar.

I purchased one of these from a B & M and paid a around seven bucks plus tax but I really enjoyed this cigar. It had a nice mellow rich tobacco flavor that I liked. I built up some real strenght at the end but I would buy more of these as this is a flavor profile that I do enjoy.
