Appearance & Construction: The Savanelli Special Selection 2005 is a nice looking cigar. The wrapper is a medium brown color that has some moderately sized veins running throughout. The construction looks great and there are no noticeable defects with this cigar.
Smoking Characteristics: This cigar has a tighter draw than I prefer but it is still good and still produces enough smoke to keep me satisfied. The burn was a bit off on this cigar and required a few touch-ups. The ash was a nice whiteish gray color and held on pretty well. The body of this cigar is medium to full while the strength is medium or as I like to call it, average.
Flavors: The Savanelli Special Selection 2005 starts out with some earthy peppery flavors along with a bit of coffee hiding in the background. As the spice settles down, the earthy flavors become tamer and develop into more of an oaky woody flavor. Also present are some coffee notes and some caramel toffee like flavors. The flavors of the cigar don’t really change from the third to third but the cigar does seem to get smoother the more you smoke it.
Final Thoughts: The Savanelli Special Selection 2005 cigar is a winner in my book. The flavors are very nice and the price truly puts this cigar over the edge. At sixdollars and some change, this cigar is a great value. If someone was to give this cigar to me and not tell me the price I would have no hesitations saying this cigar is in the $8 price range. Go getcha some!
