Appearance & Construction: This cigar has a dark dry looking wrapper that is rough to the touch. The construction seems good and there are no noticeable defects. The primary band is nice and simple and there is a secondary band that states Maduro.

Smoking Characteristics: The draw on these cigars is absolutely perfect for me. The burn for the most part was even and the ash held on but did have some flaking going on. The body of this cigar is full and the strength is borderline full.

The Flavor: This cigar opens up with a bang that fills the palate with spice; not pepper, but a hot dry spice like cayenne pepper. The cigar eventually settles down to a nice rich cigar with notes of dark chocolate, nuts, and coffee. In the second third the spice really backs down and the dark chocolate and coffee flavors really come to the fore front. In the final third the flavors really pick up in intensity and there is a citrusy sweetness that is added to the mix.

Final Thoughts: Overall this is a great cigar. Although it has a lot of characteristics that your typical maduro has, there is still something different about this cigar which can be a result of the Mexican San Andres Maduro wrapper. The Mexican San Andres wrappers are the new hot thing out there right now and I can see why. Its unique but still has that Maduro flavor to it.

Worth a Shot: Yes
Buy Again: Yes
Enjoyablity: Medium – High
Similar Cigars: This one is tough because there isn’t a lot of Mexican San Andres cigar out there at this point and time and this is the first of its kind that I have had the chance to enjoy. However, if you are a Maduro lover you’ll like this cigar.
