Fire Up That Cigar Gets a New Rating System

Over the last few weeks I have been thinking about altering our rating system. The Enjoyablity scale, while effective just doesn’t rate the actual cigar. The Enjoyablity scale more so rates the experience. The experience although important, is not a good indication of how the cigar actually is. The experience is affected by the cigar, but it may be altered greatly depending upon where you are smoking the cigar and what kind of mood you are in. Typically I always review my cigars while in my garage, free from any noise or ruckus from the shop, but in the end we are examining and rating the cigar not the experience.

I threw around a numbering system but I think a number score is unfair because what the hell is the difference between a cigar that is rated 95 and a cigar that is rated 96? Not much in my opinion, they are both excellent cigars; why not group them together. My goal with this site is to keep things simple and to the point. So to achieve that goal here is the new rating system.

Terrible: A complete dog rocket that is not worth smoking.
Okay: A smokable cigar but lacks anything special. A yard gar
Good: A solid cigar that you would want to smoke again but lacks that something that would make it a great cigar.
Great: The name says it all. A great cigar! It is a special cigar that you would want to smoke over and over.
Excellent: A classic cigar. Only the best of the best will get this rating.

I hope you will enjoy the new rating system. I will be working on fixing previous reviews but that may take a while. Also, please fee free to leave some comments and let me know what you think.

Since you have five catagories why not put a number on them. Then you always have the option of adding halves or quarter points. Because sometimes a cigar is better than great but not quite excellent. It still keeps it simple on a scale of one to five. Maybe I am just a numbers guy. Either way I like your new system.

I like the new system, but I hope you will not be reviewing too many “dog rockets”.
