My Father Cedros Deluxe Cervantes – Cigar Review
The My Father Cedros Deluxe is the same exact blend as the regular My Father line except it is a different size and covered in a cedar sleeve. For the full story behind the My Father cigar and how the cigar came to fruition, please visit the My Father cigar review.
Cigar: My Father Cedros Deluxe Cervantes
Wrapper: Ecudorian Habano Rosado
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Made In: Nicaragua – My Father Cigar Factory
Size: Cervantes 6.5×44
Price: $9-$10 per single cigar
Appearance & Construction: The My Father Cedros Deluxe is a joy to look at even before you take off the cedar sleeve. But to truly enjoy this cigar you must remove that cedar sleeve (you’d be surprised what kind of questions you get working in a Tobacco Shop and yes, I have been asked that question). Any who, once I removed the cedar sleeve I was able to see that there is a nice milk chocolate colored wrapper that has very small veins and has a nice satiny look. Construction of the cigar looks great as all Pepin Cigars do and of course the cigar sports the ever-popular triple cap.
Smoking Characteristics: The My Father Cedros Deluxe has a nice draw to it and produces a satisfactory amount of smoke. The burn is a little uneve but acceptable by most standars. The ash did not like to hang on with this cigar. It was constantly falling on my lap and on the keyboard as I typed up the review.
Flavor: The first third of the My Father Cedros Deluxe starts out with some distinct cedar notes, leather, some coffee, and orange peel. The first third was pretty spicy, but by the time the second third starts the spice is only noticeable when exhaled through the nose. The final third is much of the same but a little drier on the palate and more intense cedar notes.
Final Thoughts: When all is said and done with the My Father Cedros Deluxe, I really enjoyed it. There isn’t a huge difference between the Cedros Deluxe and the other My Father cigars besides the intense cedar notes (wonder why), and the size. As many of you know I am a sucker for a smaller ring gauge such as the 44 and 46, and as such would prefer this cigar over the others. However, like I said there is not much difference between the cigars and if you prefer the 50’s ring guage, I would recommend picking this cigar up.
Cigar Rating: Great
