Cigar Review of My Father No. 1
The My Father cigar was blended by Jamie Garcia, son of the legendary Jose Pepin Garcia, to pay tribute to his father. The My Father blend was kept a secret from Pepin for quite some time but Pepin eventually found out and demanded three cigars from Jamie to try that night. The next morning Pepin came in and said he had loved the cigar. The My Father is also blended with a Habano Oscuro wrapper and is known as the My Father Le Bijou and is Pepin’s tribute to his father. To see my thoughts of the My Father Le Bijou check out the review.
My Father by Garcia & Garcia
Wrapper: Ecudorian Habano
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Made In: Nicaragua – My Father Cigar Factory
Size: No. 1 – 5.2×52 Robusto
Price: $10.50 per single
Appearance & Construction: The My Father cigar looks outstanding. The chocolate brown colored wrapper is very oily and has some smaller sized veins along with a decent amount of tooth on the wrapper. The triple cap is very prevalent on this cigar and is crafted extremely well. The band is very classy looking
Smoking Characteristics: The My Father is a nice smooth draw that produces a large amount of smoke. The burn is even, however the ash has some flowering going on and is extremely flaky.
Flavor: The My Father starts out with some red pepper spice, coffee bean, and leather. At this point the cigar is medium in body but seems to be building throughout the fist third. In the second third the coffee bean really starts showing through along with some cedar and is very nice. The body has crept into the medium to full realm now and is very pleasant. In the final third body backs down to medium but the crushed red pepper spice starts to intensify and the cedar and leather start to become more prevalent. The body of the My Father is medium to full and the strength is average.
Final Thoughts: Overall I really enjoy the My Father No. 1. It is not your typical Pepin smoke and like that about this cigar. I really think Jamie Garcia did a fantastic job blending this cigar and there is no doubt that he has learned from one of the greatest blenders out there. The My Father is a complex and balanced cigar and is a perfect medium to full bodied cigar. Some may think this is a good cigar or even a great cigar but I am rating this cigar Excellent. The cigar fits my flavor profile exactly and the complexity of this cigar puts it over the top for me.
Cigar Rating: Excellent/ Best of the Best

Hello. Your #1 pick belicoso – my father has my mouth watering. But I clicked on the cigar and the additional information indicated that the cigar was the robusto. So I was wondering which one was actually your number one pick. Thanks and I’ll be looking for the cigars on your top 25. Thanks
I really enjoy tour site, I recently got a box of “My father” it came in a nice box, the cigars inside are wrapped in a very thin transparent paper Do I take them out of that wrap before I put them in a humidor???
